Mystical Lanterns Patterns

I am still debating options while I wait for yarn to arrive.

I was testing out this paid pattern – Mystical Lanterns by Janie Crowfoot – with DK yarn and a smaller hook than the pattern calls for. I worked out a pattern for 365 shapes but the blanket will be wider than it will be long. 70″ long and 88″ wide. The original patterns has 8 strips of 11 lanterns and 7 strips of 10 lanterns.

The set up that I worked out is 14 strips of 14 lanterns and 13 strips of 13 lanterns = 365 lanterns.

The total width of two strips together like this is 6.5″. Each lantern is 5″ long and 4″ wide.

I was using scrap yarn for this, so these do not represent a temperature range. I do want to incorporate highs and lows, but since this has 3 rounds, maybe also include average? Not sure.

I LOVE how the pattern looks, but am not big on having a blanket with holes in it. I never make granny square for that reason.
