C2C (Corner to Corner)

December 18, 2017 | Row Patterns, Temperature Project Gallery |

Why not keep it simple? Use a Corner to Corner pattern to create your temperature blanket. You can do that in several different ways. Come people have done so many “blocks” per day. Some have done a row per day (short rows at the beginning and end of the year).  Here is an example from Kristen Anne:

If you are not familiar with C2C, they can be done in several different ways, using double crochet or half double crochet. They work up pretty quickly and, once you get the hang of it, are very easy to do.

Row a Day

If you don’t mind your blanket being square, you are going to make 183 rows and then start your decrease. The 183rd row will be your longest diagonally and will be July 2nd. Decrease with July 3rd.

# of Blocks a Day

Some people do not want to do a whole row a day, and might be afraid that this would be too large. Instead, you can do so many blocks a day. When I say blocks, I am referring to how the c2c creates little boxes. This is a little trickier to figure out math-wise.

5 blocks a day

365 x 5 = 1825
38 x 48 = 1824 blocks total

If you do 5 blocks a day, you can make a blanket that is 38 blocks x 48 blocks. The total number of blocks for this matrix is 1824. This is just one block shy of 5 x 365 = 1825, so you would have to do one day that was 4 blocks instead of 5.

Another option, and one that I think I like better:

39 x 47 = 1833
1833 – 1825 = 8 extra blocks above

This is 8 over the 1825 needed for 5 blocks a day. For this I would do January 1st and December 31st with 9 blocks (5 + 4 extra).

If anyone has any other suggestions for other block counts, please let me know and I will add it here.

But, that’s actually kind of small.

18 Blocks a Day

18 x 365 = 6570 blocks total
73 x 90 = 6570

So this works out evenly without any extra blocks.

19 Blocks a Day

19 x 365 = 6935
73 x 95 = 6935
